STEP 1 – Your Account

Create your free CANRVE account and complete your personal profile.

STEP 2 – Your Home’s Profile

Create your free HOME profile. Tell the renter WHY they should rent your home. What does it include, what makes it unique, and why do you love your home? Upload photos + a video to showcase the spaces your guests will enjoy. Be sure to include pictures of any outdoor living spaces, as many cannabis users prefer smoking outside. Look for opportunities to build additional revenue streams into your listing by adding a cleaning service or dog walker, etc.

Travel is a social industry, so we’ve offered you the benefit of being able to select what social media platforms you want your home to be easily shared on.

Once you’ve added the fun stuff to your home’s profile, it’s time to focus on the fine-print by setting your house rules, creating your availability calendar, and deciding on a price point.

We recommend using the standard industry practices on the cancellation policy, but you do have the option of editing this in your listing.

CANRVE Experiences Involve Serving Alcohol

Each state, city, province, and country has their individual licensing requirements, and it is your responsibility to comply with local regulations and their laws. We strongly recommend if you are unsure about your local alcohol laws for your particular experience, you should seek legal advice or check with your local officials.

A Practical Guide for serving alcohol at your experience:

Planning

We know you have already planned extensively to put together your experience serving or selling alcohol. It is essential for you to seek counsel regarding obtaining a liquor license for your experience as it will make clear on what you can and cannot do in the planning of your experiences.

Here are some questions you should ask yourself before planning an experience:

  • What are the hours of my experience?

  • How many bars/places will be necessary to serve alcohol?

  • Will it be cash or tickets?

  • Just beer and wine, or a full bar?

  • Will you have alcohol-free zones?

  • Do you have a plan in place for intoxicated persons?

  • Will you need security on hand?

Liquor License

A liquor license is often required when you are selling/serving at your home, at a private venue, or outdoors. We suggest checking with your local police department or liquor control board for guidance and counsel.

Ensure Anyone Serving or Bartending, Completes Alcohol Management Training

Alcohol management training organizations are plentiful and provide priceless information for you and your staff about serving and selling alcohol responsibly. Usually, the training includes how to recognize and handle potentially intoxicated customers and the proper procedures for checking identification and intervening to prevent drunk driving effectively.

To protect yourself when hiring a caterer for bartending service, you should request liquor liability insurance adding yourself as an additional insured.

To Further Protect When Selling and Serving Alcohol, Make Sure You Have The Proper Insurance Coverage

Always Complete a Pre-Experience Inspection

Finding and eliminating hazards before your experience that will trip your guests is particularly essential.

Prevent Your Guests From Bringing Their Personal Alcohol

You have enough challenges preventing patrons from intoxication at your event. Be vigilant to ensure they are not already intoxicated when they arrive. We suggest denying entry for anyone already intoxicated or confiscating alcohol brought to the experience.

Your Call But We Suggest Avoiding Having An “Open Bar.”

When having an open bar, limit its duration and serve smaller portions. Close the bar one hour before your event concludes. When alcohol is flowing like a river, the average person tends to drink more than average.

Drinking and Driving Should be Discouraged

Find alternative transportation if not provided for example a rideshare app like lyft, uber or a taxicab. Keep in mind; you have a tremendous responsibility to make sure attendees get home safely.

Not Always a Popular Suggestion But Consider Having an Alcohol-Free Experience.

CANRVE Experiences Involving The Handling or Cooking Food.

Cooking Food.

Each state, city, province, and country has their individual licensing requirements, and it is your responsibility to comply with local regulations and their laws. We strongly recommend if you are unsure about your local laws for your experience that is serving food or handling food, you should seek legal advice or check with your local officials.

Some Practical Basic Principles For Food Experiences

The ultimate responsibility for food safety with your experiences lies with you and the foodservice operator and their ability to develop and maintain effective food safety management systems.
Most countries if not all have health and safety rules with the handling of food and food service. Your customer’s health and safety should be of great importance always, and we suggest getting legal advice to understand local regulatory requirements that apply to the handling and serving of food.

Home-Based Experience Serving Food

If your food experience is home-based, you will need to understand the regulations of FDA and your state and local health department. Local and county health agencies inspect food service and retail food establishments, provide technical assistance to food facilities, and educate consumers about food safety.

In some cases, the home-based food experience is exempt from specific food and drug administration regulations. Here is an example of an exemption: if you are not entering into interstate commerce (selling your product outside of your US state), you may not have to register as a facility. However, all imported food is considered to be interstate commerce. Check with your local laws if you are in another country other than the United States.

We encourage you to look into your tax rules as it applies to your experience to ensure that you are not required to obtain special insurance coverage.

A good source of information for USA is through the FDA’s website.
Canada’s equivalent.

CANRVE Experiences Involving Transportation

Each state, city, province, and country has their individual licensing requirements, and it is your responsibility to comply with local regulations and their laws. We strongly recommend if you are unsure about your local laws for your particular experience, you should seek legal advice or check with your local officials.

A Practical Guide for Your Experience That Involves Transportation

Is an exclusive license or permit to drive my guests to and from my experience required?

Valid active insurance and registration for any vehicle used in your experience are required in any region around the world along with your driver holding a valid driver’s license.  We recommend seeking legal counsel to see if a special license or permit is required in your region.

Overall it is recommended that you check with your local department of transportation, police and your lawyer regarding additional requirements.

Keeping You and Your Guests Safe

If you have hired drivers or you are driving your guests, it is in your best interest that you and your employees drive safely.

  • Please use a seat belt at all times. This is for the driver and passenger(s).

  • Don’t be out partying hard the night before. Be well-rested before driving.

  • It is a good idea to avoid taking medications that make you drowsy.

  • Try and set realistic goals as to the number of miles you can drive safely each day.

  • Certainly, if you are impaired by alcohol or any drug, do not drive.

  • Drivers should avoid distractions, such as texting on their phones, adjusting the radio or other controls, eating or drinking.

  • Continually search the roadway to be alert to situations requiring quick action.

  • If your experience requires you driving more than 2 hours, stop for a break. Stretch your legs and get out of the vehicle, take a walk, and get refreshed.

  • Avoid aggressive driving by keeping your cool in traffic.

  • Always be patient and courteous to other drivers.

  • Try not to take other drivers’ actions personally.

Plan your route ahead of time to reduce your stress, allowing plenty of travel time, and avoiding if possible crowded roadways and peak driving times.

Please consult your lawyer for more information if your experience involves transporting your guests on a motorcycle.

Overall, we encourage you to speak with your local transportation authorities directly or consult a lawyer for your experience if it involves transportation.

*CANRVE has no control over experience providers and negates all liability.

Business License For Experiences.

Each state, city, province, and country has their individual licensing requirements, and it is your responsibility to comply with local regulations and their laws. We strongly recommend if you are unsure about your local laws for your particular experience, you should seek legal advice or check with your local officials.

Getting a Business License for a Experiences

It may be required to register your CANRVE xperience as a business with the local government or at the national or federal level. Failure to do so can result in the disruption of your experience which can result in fines, and penalties until proper registration is completed.

In certain jurisdiction, your experience may not be classified as a business based on the type of service you provide and the frequency of the experience.  Several factors may come into play and it is important to obtain this information from your local government based on the details of your particular experience.

Please take note once again that you are responsible for checking all that is required for your experience and whether or not you need a business license to operate. You are responsible to comply with all regulation laws as it pertains to registration, permits or licensing before offering your first experience.

Specific Permit, License or Registration Requirements.

You may be required to register your Experience or obtain special licenses or permits based on the category of services and activities.

Again it is always a good idea to check with local representation and consult with a local lawyer to give you proper guidance with your location of choice, tax and accounting, your employees and lastly insurance that may be needed. Find out if additional laws and/or rules apply to you doing your Experience.

It is imperative that the description of your Experience in your experience page is truthful to give your guests an opportunity to make rational decisions before booking. In many cases, consumer protection laws expect you to meet the following criteria:

  • Your information is not misleading and accurate.

  • Your Experience price advertised has no additional costs or fees otherwise described in your information.

  • Describe in full the main characteristics of your Experience, all inclusions, and any special terms and conditions.

  • All services specifically described are treated as commitments with dates and times that you actually intend to provide.

Overall, we strongly suggest consulting a local lawyer to cover all bases that will apply to your Experience and guests.
